Getting wax off vinyl.
Removing hard wax from vinyl is sometimes as simple as picking at it with your fingernail.
To remove wax buildup from vinyl flooring you do have a few options.
When wax builds up on vinyl and linoleum flooring it can result in a discolored yellow tone.
Diluted household ammonia works great for removing wax buildup as well as dirt and grime on vinyl or linoleum floors.
Then a fresh layer of wax can be applied to the clean floor to give a fresh clean start.
If the wax is somewhat soft to the touch place a few ice cubes in a zippered sandwich bag and seal the bag.
Mix from 1 2 to 2 cups of ammonia to one gallon of warm water.
This is really ideal for heavily soiled trim since it will take everything off with a little scrubbing.
The original wax must be removed first.
You can use a solution such as 2 gallons of hot water 2 cups of ammonia and 1 cup of dishwashing detergent or laundry detergent.
Let the solution sit on the floor for a few minutes before you begin scrubbing the floor with your mop or a scrub brush.
Vinyl flooring soak the spot with hot water and wipe away the wax with a dry cloth.
Have plenty of ventilation and test it first on a small out of the way spot to be sure the ammonia won t damage the floor.
